Important things to remember about Spring Break...
Spring is one of my favorite times here in Texas. The weather is typically great, and it is so wonderful just to be able to be outside. I also love fixing up our flowerbeds each year. This year we finally got rid of those awful rocks that have been lining our walkway. Jake and I both have hated those for so long! Jake took a day off during Spring Break and I put him to work! After a fun breakfast at IHOP and a little shoe shopping, we headed to Home Depot and bought 60 stones.
And then Jake got to work...
Took a good chunk of the day to complete but we are happy with the results. So much better than the rocks!
When we were out working that day, our neighbors also were doing yard work. The kids were helping them somewhat and wanted some gloves. It was probably one of the cutest things ever to see Cole, after rummaging through the drawer in the garage, come out with these and run over to our neighbors ready to help. So innocent, so sweet, and just so cute...
Besides yard work, the kids enjoyed the trampoline...
Had some playdates with friends, Elle had a birthday party, and we tried to keep a little busy. On Friday we had a baking lesson. Chocolate chip cookies 101. They were a little heavy on the flour, and some came out looking more like dense little cookie mounds, but they still tasted pretty good.
We took a trip to the library. Hard to believe that my baby is big enough for an umbrella stroller!
And to show us just how big he is, he rolled over! Haven't seen him do it again, so apparently once was enough for now, but I am sure it won't be long! I also love that he is old enough to hold toys, at least somewhat. It is so fun to watch babies learn how to use their hands and the focus that it takes to grab things. And he can blow spit bubbles. Now that is one talented baby!
We also had two swim practices (don't know who took this pic, but we were at swim so it works!)
And I sorted through kids clothes- always an exciting project! My goals for Spring Break were to work on the yard and sort clothes. Mission accomplished. Clothes sorting always leads to shopping, so one day I was brave enough to venture out shopping with all five. I'm sure some were thinking I was crazy. I was sad to not have captured this event with pics, but then stumbled upon these awesome ones on my phone...
Pics of us shopping that day! Thank you children for confiscating my phone and putting it to good use. On St. Patty's Day, the girls and I did a little more shopping.
And we ended the day with a picnic dinner at the drive-in. Found it fitting that we watched a very "green" movie on the day of green. The kids liked "The Lorax" and we always have such a good time at the drive in.
The kids also enjoyed a couple of in-house sleepovers...
And in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, they taped up signs all over the house. The night before I was telling Jada that St. Patty's Day is a nickname for the holiday and her suggestion was "St. Panties Day".

And Coley ended the break by getting pretty sick. After a fever for two nights and some blood in his pee, we ended up at the doctors this week leaving urine samples and getting blood drawn. That was torture. That is one strong boy! Took the nurses forever to find the veins. Then they blew one in one arm, and couldn't find one in the other. So off we went to a lab where they blew a vein in the other arm and finally were able to find one after some fishing around. The poor kid got poked four times and was screaming and fighting like crazy! Took three of us working together to hold him still and get the blood. Today we had to take in another urine sample and he was talking about getting poked. Luckily I was able to reassure him that he didn't have to get poked anymore today. Tough boy! All tests are seeming like everything is normal so hopefully we are in the clear! The pediatrician called him her "creative kid"- meaning he keeps her on her toes with all of his fun health issues! Luckily none have ever been too serious!
And because apparently three trips to the doctors in a week isn't enough, Jada decided to ram a q-tip a little too far in her ear the other night causing some bleeding landing her at a late night, after hours appointment. Not going to be surprised if the pediatrician starts sending us thank you notes for keeping her business hopping! Anyways, we pulled out the jumper for the baby. Took him a bit to get used to it, but I think he is kind of coming around to it. I love watching him try and get that birdie!
Love baby feet! And the most exciting event of Spring Break was that I got a new niece! My kids finally have a cousin on Jake's side of the family! Little Vivian is soooo cute! I just wish Phoenix wasn't so far away so that I could hold that baby!
